Landlord / Tenant
Did you know that…
- Before you move into an apartment, your landlord can charge you for your first and last months' rent, a security deposit of up to one month's rent, and a fee for installing a new lock - but nothing else? Any additional charges are illegal.
- Your landlord must put your security deposit in a separate, interest-bearing account, and give you a receipt that shows in what bank and account that deposit is kept?
- If he or she doesn't give you a receipt within 30 days of receiving your deposit, you are entitled to get your deposit back immediately?
- If you didn't know these tenants rights, you are not alone. Most tenants enter into rental contracts without knowing their rights or responsibilities - and often end up needing an attorney to help sort things out.
At D'Angelo & Hashem, we can help protect and fight for your rights as a tenant. We can help resolve any issues or problems you might have with your landlord or rental company - quickly and effectively, so that you can get back to living safely and comfortably.
Clean and safe
Everyone deserves to live in a residence that is clean and safe. It is also the law. If you:
- haven't received heat or hot water for more than a day,
- have insects or rodents in your apartment, or
- don't have sufficient locks on your doors or windows,
- have notified your landlord about these problems and
- he or she has not taken care of the issue,
you may need some legal assistance. Call D'Angelo & Hashem today at 1-877-384-8800.
